June 9, 2024 - Home Worship

For the week of June 9 – 3rd Sunday after Pentecost

Morning Prayer:  Heavenly Father, we gather this morning with those who love You, that we might sing Your praises and share Your love with one another. You have shown Your faithfulness to us every day in ways that we do not always recognize. So we gather today in order to thank You for Your constant watch-care over us. Help us to entrust our lives to You and Your purposes as we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen. (Discipleship Ministries)

Opening Hymn: #140 Great Is Thy Faithfulness

  1. Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; there is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;

As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain: Great is Thy faithfulness!  Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided;

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

  1. Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,

sun moon and stars with their courses above join with all nature in manifold witness

to Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Refrain:

  1. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine,

With ten thousand beside!  Refrain:

Psalm 138:1-8

I give You thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing Your praise;

I bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness; for You have exalted Your name and Your word above everything.

On the day I called, You answered me, You increased my strength of soul.

All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, for they have heard the words of Your mouth.

They shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.

For though the Lord is high, He regards the lowly; but the haughty He perceives from far away.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; You stretch out Your hand, and Your right hand delivers me.

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of Your hands.

Children’s Time Galatians 5:22-23

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.

Children’s Message

Our Bible lesson today is about fruit. No, we aren't talking about apples and oranges. It is about a different kind of fruit -- the fruit of the Spirit. We are talking about the way we act when we put our faith in Jesus, ask Him to forgive us of our sins, and promise be His followers. The Bible tells us that when we do that, the Holy Spirit fills us with God's love and produces some good fruit in our life.

If you see an apple tree, what do you expect to find on that tree? Apples! Well, when you see someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit, you expect to see what the Bible calls the fruit of the Spirit. What is that? It is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Oh my, that is some good fruit, isn't it?

Are you always patient? Are you always gentle and kind? No, there will be times when you fail. When you fail, ask God to forgive you and fill you with His Spirit so that you will produce the kind of fruit that He wants to see in your life.

Heavenly Father, fill us with Your Spirit so that we will show the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession:  Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers for those dear to our hearts.  We now pray as You have taught us: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us, not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

Offering spotlight: Thank you for supporting the ministries that reach out into the community.  VBS Thursdays starts this week.  It’s an exciting time when we see people who do not usually worship with us.  Additional help is especially needed on the first night to assist with registration and name tags.

Offering prayer: God of all creation, in humble gratitude, we offer our gifts, celebrating Your steadfast love that endures forever. As we reflect on Your faithfulness, help us align our hearts with Your divine rhythm. Guide us to sing Your praises boldly, inviting others to join in the song of Your love. Amid trials and triumphs, may our worship be a testament to Your enduring grace. As we acknowledge our human frailty, reassure us of Your unwavering presence. Lead us in the work of Your hands, empowering us to love as You do. Bless these offerings, magnifying Your love in our community and beyond. Amen. (Discipleship Ministries)

Hymn of Preparation: #420 Breathe on Me, Breath of God

  1. Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew,
    that I may love what Thou dost love, and do what Thou wouldst do.
  2. Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure,
    until with Thee I will one will, to do and to endure.
  3. Breathe on me, Breath of God, till I am wholly Thine,
    till all this earthly part of me glows with Thy fire divine.
  4. Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die,
    but live with Thee the perfect life of Thine eternity.

Message Scripture:  2 Corinthians 4:13 – 5:1

13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to Himself. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

5 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

The message on June 9th was given by Michele Valencik.  Please meditate on the scriptures written here.

Closing Hymn: #600 Wonderful Words of Life

  1. Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life; Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life. Words of life and beauty teach me faith and duty.

Refrain:  Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

  1. Christ, the blessed one, gives to all, wonderful words of life;  Sinner, list to the loving call, wonderful words of life. All so freely giving, wooing us to heaven.  Refrain:
  2. Sweetly echo the gospel call, wonderful words of life;  Offer pardon and peace to all, wonderful words of life; Jesus, only Savior sanctify forever.  Refrain:

Go into your week with the blessings of The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit.
